For next 2 days I have an opportunity to do some MySQL benchmark tests on a vB customer’s Quad Intel L7555 Nehalem-EX Octo-Core 1.86Ghz server with 64 cpu cores and 64GB DDR3 memory! As the server had WHM/Cpanel installed, I got to also install MySQL 5.5.10 on the server. Note, you’ll have to recompile against the MySQL 5.5.10 client library due to incompatibilities between MySQL 5.5.10 and earlier MySQL 5.5 versions.
I’ll be running MySQL – MyISAM and InnoDB benchmarks comparing MySQL 5.0.92, MySQL 5.1.55, MySQL 5.5.10 and MariaDB 5.2.5 MySQL versions. So keep an eye out for several posts dedicated to these benchmarks testing scaling from 1 to 64 cpu cores! Follow me on twitter for notice when the benchmarks come out
