Rackpace.com Cloud Server – CentOS 5.5 64bit install and setup
Rackspace Cloud Server benchmarks
First I ran UnixBench 5.1.2 to compare the performance with my local Virtualbox server which consists of
- VirtualBox CentOS 5.5 64bit Guest
- Xeon W3540 @3408Mhz (Assigned 2 cores only) – linux reports @3375Mhz
- 16MB allocated GPU memory
- 1GB out of 6GB DDR3-1550Mhz
- 20GB out of 640GB Samsung SATAII
UnixBench 5.1.2 local Virtualbox server turns out to be at least 2.5x times faster than the Rackspace Cloud Server 4GB/160GB instance.
